Subscription Management Software vs CRM
Subscription Management Software vs CRM
CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software and subscription management software both centre on customers — but they answer different questions and serve different functions.
What a CRM does
A CRM manages the sales pipeline, customer communications, and relationship history. It tracks leads, deals, interactions, and contact records. Tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, and Pipedrive are built around the question: who are our customers and prospects, and how are we managing our relationship with them?
What subscription management software does
Subscription management software manages the operational and commercial lifecycle of an active subscription — recurring billing, contract terms, renewals, dunning, and for physical products, asset tracking and return workflows. It answers: what subscriptions are active, are they being billed correctly, and is everything running operationally?
How they work together
In a subscription business, a CRM handles pre-subscription and relationship management. Subscription management software handles post-signup operations. The two systems ideally integrate — so subscriber data flows between them — but they are not interchangeable. Many circuly customers use HubSpot or Salesforce alongside circuly for exactly this reason.
